Code Reference:
Section 907.6.6 is amended by adding Section 907.6.6.4:
907.6.6.4 Communication requirements
All alarm systems, new or replacement, shall transmit alarm, supervisory, and trouble signals descriptively to the approved central station, remote supervisory station, or proprietary supervising station as defined in NFPA 72. Signals must include the correct device designation and addressable device location. General alarm or zone-only signals are not permitted.
What size/type fire extinguisher do I need?
2A:10BC fire extinguisher - designed to fight fires involving ordinary combustibles (Class A), flammable liquids (Class B), and electrically energized equipment (Class C). The "2A" rating means it has the extinguishing power of 2.5 gallons of water for Class A fires, while "10BC" indicates it can cover 10 square feet of a Class B fire and is safe for electrical fires.
How often should I change the batteries in my smoke detector?
It is recommended to change your smoke detector batteries twice a year, ideally at the time change in the spring and fall, as this provides an easy reminder. Test your smoke detectors monthly to ensure they are functioning properly. Replace your smoke detectors after they have been in use for 10 years to ensure they remain effective and reliable.
