Permits

Permits are a means to authorize hazardous processes that could cause property damage, injury or death. Permit applications are reviewed and approved if found acceptable to minimum fire and life safety criteria. The permit identifies requirements that have to be provided, installed or maintained to ensure a safe process.

Processes requiring a permit:

  • Amusement Building
  • Block Party
  • Carnivals and Fairs - ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS ARE NECESSARY THROUGH THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT
  • Compressed Gas - storage or usage of over 200 cubic feet of gas
  • Exhibits and Trade Shows
  • Fire protection or detection systems (installation or modification)
  • Flammable or Combustible liquids (storage, usage, or installation)
  • Hazardous Materials (storage, usage or installation)
  • High-Piled Storage – storage over 12 feet tall inside of building
  • Open Burning – recreational fires are excluded
  • Open flames and candles in restaurants or drinking establishments
  • Repair Garages and Fueling Stations
  • Tents and Membrane structures - ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS ARE NECESSARY THROUGH THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT
  • Vehicle Displays in Public Buildings
