Fire Doesn’t Text. It Beeps.
Smoke Alarm Program – Protecting Grapevine Homes: Nearly half of all house fires in Grapevine occur in homes without a working smoke alarm. To help address this, the Grapevine Fire Department launched a Smoke Alarm Program in 2010, funded by a Fire Prevention and Safety Grant from the U.S. Fire Administration. Since then, we have installed more than 1,200 smoke alarms and visited over 4,000 homes across the city.
Request a Smoke Alarm Check
Residents of Grapevine can schedule a free smoke alarm inspection by filling out a request form. Once submitted, a fire department representative will contact you to arrange a convenient time to check your smoke detectors.
On-Scene Smoke Alarm Checks
When fire trucks or ambulances respond to a residence, and if time permits, crews may check smoke alarms while on scene—with the homeowner’s permission and if appropriate.
If a smoke alarm isn’t working, we will first attempt to replace the battery. If the alarm still fails to operate, we will install a new one at no cost. If the on-scene crew is unable to complete the task, we’ll refer the resident to the Fire Prevention Division to schedule a follow-up visit.
Our Goal
Our mission is simple: To ensure every home in Grapevine has at least one working smoke alarm.
