What do I need to get a card? Fill out a short application form at the circulation desk: full name, home address, telephone number, date of birth, proof of address or property ownership, driver’s license number and signature.

Do I have to live in Grapevine to get a card? An annual $50 non-resident fee is charged for patrons living outside Grapevine. Cards are free for Grapevine residents. Property owners in Grapevine may get a free library card upon showing us a current Grapevine property tax bill. GCISD employees and City of Grapevine employees may also get a free card with their respective ID cards.

How old do you have to be to get a card? Children from birth to age 18 may be issued cards if accompanied by a parent or guardian with a photo ID and proof of current address.

Can I still check out books without my library card? Yes. You may use your driver’s license or use your barcode in the library app.

My child goes to a GCISD school. Can they get a free library card? 
If your child does not live in Grapevine an annual $50 nonresident fee is charged.

When are items due? All items are due three weeks from the day they are first checked out.

How much for late items?  The Library no longer charges late fees. However, if materials are not returned or lost, the original cost of each item will be charged to the cardholder's account. 

Is there a limit on the number of items I check out? There is no limit on the number of books, media, board games patrons may check out but there are restrictions on Library of Things items. 

Do I need a library card to use the computers? Card holders have access to the main internet computers behind the Business Center. The library also offers two express guest internet stations next to the reference desk. If you do not have a library card, you may request a guess pass at the desk for up to one hour at an Express Station.

Do I need a library card to use the Makerspace and Recording Studio? Yes, both are limited to library cardholders. Please email createit@grapevinetexas.gov for more information.

Do you have free WiFi? Yes, the account name is Library_Wifi and there is no password.

Does the library accept book donations? Yes, we accept books, puzzles, and board games in good condition--no mold, water damage, or bugs, please. Please bring your donations to the delivery doors with the yellow posts on the south side of the library near the Convention Center. Ring the doorbell located next to the doors and we will assist you. Donated materials may be incorporated into our collections, sold by our Friends group, or recycled. Once donated, materials become property of the library.

Can I reserve a study room? Study/meeting rooms are limited to library cardholders. Reservations can be made up to a day in advance for up to three hours: Room Reservation Link. The library does not have large meeting rooms available for reservation or rental. Please check with The REC and the Convention Center for room rentals.

Does the library have a notary? No, the library does not offer notary services.
