On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, the Grapevine Police Department firing range hosted the Adaptive Training Foundation, ATF, a 501 3(c) non-profit organization which works with individuals with life-altering injuries find life fulfilling adaptive performance training. This group consisted of veterans from the five branches of military service who are in a 9-week program to help them adapt to a sustainable lifestyle.
The day consisted of allowing the students and some of their instructors to have an opportunity to shoot a variety of firearms, pistol and rifle, including a 1940’s-era Thompson machine gun. This was also a great day of meeting new friends and hearing phenomenal stories of overcoming adversaries and adapting to new challenges in their lives. Many of the firearm instructors were veterans themselves and were greatly honored to be able to be associated with this group.
The Department and ATF were brought together by SAC Matthew DeSarno of FBI Dallas Office and the FBI National Academy Associates of Texas as an outreach program to our veterans. SAC DeSarno sponsored the event by providing the firearm, ammunition, and several of the firearms instructors. BNSF Railroad Police Sponsored the luncheon.
Thank you to everyone involved in this event. It was a great honor to be able to be a part of the the ATF program and getting to meet an incredible group of individuals with challenging life stories.
