Stop by for a group let’s play of Nethack, a free to play, ascii/text-based dungeon crawl RPG from 1987. The game is largely based off 2nd edition D&D and it is quite the challenge. It will take a lot of foresight, strategy, and information to beat. As a group we’ll create a character, explore the dungeons, and progress as far as we can together, learning from each expedition and ruminating on the history of video games and game design in the meantime. The mechanics in this game are deep and it’ll take every scrap of information we can get to succeed. As such, we encourage you all to head home, play the game on your own, and bring back your notes to share with us so that we can create an ever-expanding catalogue to reference as we play. This will allow us to develop better strategies each time we play and get further and further down into the depths… This session is for adults.
