Patrol is the most visible element of the Police Department and provides proactive patrol, first response and initial investigation of all reported offenses. Patrol currently has 46 authorized positions. Patrol is responsible for the protection of life and property and serves a population of approximately 50,000 residents within 35 square miles. Patrol utilizes mountain bikes, ATV's and marked vehicles to effectively serve and protect the community.

The City is divided into nine districts to facilitate timely responses to calls for service throughout the City. The districts were established with consideration given to population density, geographical barriers, and ingress/egress.

Patrol is committed to developing partnerships with the citizens and strives to work together to solve problems throughout the community. Patrol operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and is divided into four 12-hour shifts.
