Crime Prevention Programs

Bears on Patrol - Bears are provided to officers to give to children when the situation arises. The new bears are donated from civic organizations and citizens in the community.

Bicycle Rodeo - Educate the youth about bicycle safety regarding the proper use of safety equipment while riding a bicycle. It a hands on course that provides basic fundamentals.

Child Identification - Involves fingerprinting children which allows parents to maintain a record of essential information that will be needed in case of an emergency.

Operation Identification - Involves marking or engraving property with an identifying number such as your driver's license. A driver's license is easily recognized and traced by law enforcement.

Home Inspection - A free inspection conducted by a Crime Prevention Officer using criteria set forth by the State Board of Insurance can result in a reduction in your homeowner’s insurance of 5-20%.

Security Assessments - A free inspection of the home or business by a Crime Prevention Officer can help reduce opportunity and strengthen targets by increasing natural surveillance, improving territorial reinforcement and evaluating access control.

National Night Out - Is a worldwide annual event and held in Texas on the first Tuesday in October. Is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Neighborhood Watch - Encourage residents to get to know each other. Watch homes and vehicles. Teaches residents regarding suspicious behavior and how to report violations.

Help End Auto Theft - H.E.A.T. authorizes your vehicle to be stopped by an officer to determine ownership if operated between the hours of 1:00 A.M. - 5:00 A.M. Decals are placed on the front and rear windshields.

VIN Etching - The Vehicle’s Identification Number is permanently etched (acid etch) into the major windows of an automobile. VIN etching is a theft deterrent and may entitle you to an auto insurance premium discount.

Safety Presentations - Presentations are provided to all age groups on a variety of subjects in order to reduce crime.

Tours - Children and adults are provided a tour of the Police Department and vehicles.
