Expired Driver's License
If you have received a citation for having an expired driver's license you may be eligible to have that offense dismissed.
- You must provide proof to the Court that the driver's license was renewed within 20 business days of receiving the citation, or by the court date that is printed on the citation, whichever is later. Acceptable proof must be a renewal receipt issued by the Department of Public Safety.
- A $10 fee will apply and must be paid before the citation will be dismissed.
- If you will not be able to renew your driver's license within the allotted time the citation must be paid in full.
Expired Registration
If you have received a citation for expired registration you may be eligible to have that offense dismissed.
- You must provide proof to the Court that the registration was renewed by the court date that is printed on the citation.
- Your proof must show that you paid the late registration fee to the Tax Assessor Office.
- Acceptable proof must be a receipt issued by the Tax Assessor office (the paper the sticker came on).
- A $10 fee will apply and must be paid before the citation will be dismissed.
- If you are unable to renew the registration within the allotted time the citation must be paid in full.
Fail to Display Driver's License
If you have received a citation for fail to display driver's license you may be eligible to have that offense dismissed.
- You must present your valid driver license to the Court by the court date printed on the citation.
- The driver's license must be appropriate for the type of vehicle operated
- The driver's license must have been valid at the time of the arrest/stop
- A $10 fee will apply and must be paid before the citation will be dismissed.
- if you are unable to present a driver's license that meets the above criteria you must pay the citation in full.
Fail to Change Address on Driver's License
If you have received a citation for failure to change the address on your driver license you may be eligible to have that offense dismissed.
- You must provide proof to the Court that the address was updated within 20 business days of receiving the citation.
- Acceptable proof must be a receipt from the Department of Public Safety showing that the address was updated.
- A $10 fee will apply and must be paid before the citation will be dismissed.
- If you are unable to change the address within the allotted time the citation must be paid in full; also, you may qualify for deferred disposition. You must come in person to apply for deferred disposition.
Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility
If you received a citation for failure to maintain financial responsibility you may be eligible to have that dismissed.
- You must provide written proof that either the person named on the citation or the vehicle listed on the citation had valid liability insurance at the time the citation was issued. Proof of insurance may not be shown by cell phone; however, you can e-mail it to court@grapevinetexas.gov or fax it to 817-410-3223.
- On the insurance proof the valid "from" and "to" dates must encompass the violation date of the citation. You must present the proof either on or before the court date printed on your citation.
- Upon verification by the Court the citation will be dismissed without a fee.
- If you did not have insurance coverage at the time the citation was issued, but you subsequently obtained liability insurance, you can request deferred disposition. Proof of insurance is required at the time you make your request and the insurance proof must be valid the duration of the deferral period. You can either appear in person or send an e-mail request to apply for deferred disposition.
