TEXRail Service Begins Tomorrow - Thursday, January 10 

Trinity Metro has received confirmation from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) that the entire 27-mile TEXRail route has been approved for passenger service.  Full service will begin from the T&P Station in Fort Worth to DFW International Airport’s Terminal B tomorrow, January 10.  For the duration of January, 2019, everyone is invited to ride for free.  The first passenger train will depart Fort Worth at 3:25 am. Grapevine Partners with 6 Stones to Provide Home Repairs for Community Revitalization  

The City of Grapevine is now accepting applications for the 6 Stones Community Powered Revitalization (CPR) program. The CPR program coordinates corporate and community volunteers to provide exterior home repairs for qualified homeowners. In order to qualify, the applicant must be age 62 (or older) or handicapped, disabled, a veteran or a spouse of a veteran, or a single head of household with children under the age of 18 who are currently living at home.  The applicant must also meet certain income restrictions and have lived in their home for two years.  Qualified applicants may apply at GrapevineTexas.gov.

Christmas Tree Recycling Collection – Wednesday, January 16 

Recycle your natural/live Christmas tree by placing your clean, unflocked and decoration-free tree at your curb on Wednesday, January 16 and it will be collected and “tree-cycled” into mulch.  If you miss the above date, you may also place your tree at the curb during any of your regularly scheduled clean brush days. 

 

Tree Sharing Program 

The City of Grapevine is proud to continue its annual Tree Sharing program. This program is a joint effort between the City and Grapevine homeowners in “sharing” the cost, 50/50, of up to two trees per household planted in the homeowner’s yard. We still have a few trees left to plant and they could be yours. Trees are sold on a first come, first served basis between Monday and Friday at the Grapevine Municipal Service Center, 501 Shady Brook Drive, from 9 am – 4 pm. Grapevine Baseball & Softball (GBS) Spring Registration 

Registration for the Spring Youth Baseball & Softball season is now open! Divisions will begin to fill quickly, so please register prior to February 1 to avoid a late fee. The Spring GBS season will begin Saturday, March 23. Please visit GBSA.org for division pricing  

and registration.  

 

Spring Adult Softball and Kickball Registration Open 

The Spring softball and kickball season team registration is open through Monday, February 4. League play for both softball and kickball will begin the week of February 24. Softball leagues are offered Sunday through Friday at Bob Jones Park (Oak Grove Softball remains under construction). Join us this weekend at the Palace Theatre as we celebrate the films of Frank Capra.  You Can’t Take It With You, starring Jean Arthur, James Stewart and Lionel Barrymore, is about a man from a family of rich snobs who becomes engaged to a woman from a good-natured but eccentric family. It Happened One Night, starring Clark Gable, Claudette Colbert and Walter Connolly will be screened on Saturday.  The film features Colbert as a spoiled heiress running away from her family who received help from an undercover reporter in need of a story who helps her. Did you receive a new food gadget for Christmas or dyou have a few languishing in your cabinets?  Well, maybe we can help. January’s After Hours’ theme is all about those gadgets and how to shortcut or “hack” them.  We’ll have some fun making a mess and eating what we create.  Each Tuesday is a different gadget: Panini Grill, Nutri-Bullet, and George Foreman Grill.  Registration is required and we ask that you bring your gadget so you learn how to put it to use. Grapevine Parks and Recreation will be hosting an Adaptive Recreation Open House Night!  The Adaptive Recreation Program is geared towards adults 18 and up and is designed to bring out positive emotional, social, physical and cognitive changes in individuals with special needs. Participants will explore their talents, experience new opportunities and engage with their peers in a fun and safe environment. We encourage you to come meet our staff, engage in fun activities, tour the facility and learn more about the program. Our motto is Living with NO Limits! Pizza and ice cream will be served.  Although this event is free to attend, please register at GoGrapevine.com.

Did you know that solar is clean, affordable and reliable energy?  Keep Grapevine Beautiful’s first environmental lecture of 2019, features Larry Howe, an expert in the area of renewable energy. Larry will explain how rooftop solar energy is an untapped natural energy resource in Texas. It can generate pollution-free, emissions-free electricity and the fuel comes to you. This year’s Top Gun-themed Mother Son Date Night is one you’ll never forget with your special fighter pilot. Goose and Maverick are headed out on another mission and they need your help! Earn your wings to be among the elite with our flight simulator, take a photo in your own MiG Fighter and test your paper airplane skills in our Danger Zone Flight Mission. Get ready for some top fun with our 80s Lip Sync Battle, outfit contest, and plenty of 80s jams to dance to! The evening will include a full dinner and tons of fighter pilot memories to last a lifetime.  Tickets are available now for Grapevine residents.
