Summer Reading Club
Kids’ Comic Con Kick-Off on Friday, June 5th and Saturday, June 6th

In the Program Room:

10 am: Mega Balloon Sculptures with Jason Vaughn—watch an awesome balloon artist create two massive superhero balloons right before your eyes!  (all ages)

11 am: Learn to Draw Comics with Ben Siegel. (ages 8 and up)

12 pm: Superhero appearance for photo ops and autographs—Superman on Friday and Captain America on Saturday! (all ages)

1 pm: Super Villain Science Show--A crazed mutant is trying to take over the world! Can science help her? Can anyone stop her? We’ll have to wait and see.  If we survive this one, more programs are listed on the back. (ages 5 and up)

2 pm: Superhero appearance for photo ops and autographs—Spiderman on Friday and Batman on Saturday! (all ages)

3 pm: The Adventures of Super Banana Puppet Show—Brave Super Banana is on a mission to save the bananas, and no one will get in his way! (all ages)

4 pm: Comic Books 101 with Eli Lane from Area 51 Gaming. Learn about the history of comics and some background on your favorite characters. (ages 8 and up)

In the Children’s Program Room: 

Go back in time and see how superheroes used to look as we show some classic episodes on the big screen!

In the Children’s Department:

Superhero scratch art, design a mask, decorate a superhero cut-out, get a superhero temporary tattoo, test your super-strength, use the photobooth props and cut-out to take fun pictures, and pick up some free comics and give-aways from Area 51 Gaming! 

Summer Reading Club Programs

Please check the Events and Storytimes page for programs for preschool children or the Teen page for those entering 6th grade and up. The following is for elementary school-aged children:

PLEASE NOTE: To attend SRC programs on Wednesdays at 2 pm, children must be ages 5 and up, must show a current Grapevine Public Library card, and must be able to attend without an adult. Programs are approximately 45 min.

Back-to-School Days: August 2nd-22nd

Three weeks of fun, entertaining, and educational programs and activities to finish out the summer and help families get ready for a great new school year, with a back-to-school concert on Saturday, August 22nd at 2 pm starring David Chicken!
