VOLUNTEERS IN POLICE SERVICE
The Grapevine Police Department's Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS) program was created to allow
residents of the City of Grapevine to become a part of and contribute to their police department and to give back to their community. Beginning in 2006 with many members of the Grapevine Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, the program continues to grow and expand throughout the department.

VIPS help in Records, occupying an Information Desk during business hours, assist in Dispatch, and most recently began patrolling the city in specially marked volunteer cars as a Citizens On Patrol unit.
To become a VIPS with the Grapevine Police Department, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Have a desire to volunteer and donate at least 16 hours of time per calendar month,
2. Be at least 21 years of age,
3. Complete an application and pass background investigation, and
4. Attend a Grapevine Police Department Citizens Police Academy.
