ALL NEW - Ed & Edith Pewitt Educational Pavilion!

This structure is 25’ x 35’ on a stained concrete pad, with dry stacked stone columns containing the Benefactor level donors names etched randomly in the stones on the entry columns. Stone benches supply seating for thirty. The view for the instructor is of the Garden court and the natural amphitheatre and the students will be facing the woods and a creek. Large stones are stacked on one side of the pavilion pad to provide interest as well as additional seating. The roof is A-line and has recycled plastic shake shingles on top. There is lighting and electrical throughout. The landscape is predominately native and adapted plant material that will require less water and fertilizer than traditional landscapes. Great plants that will attract wildlife, provide year round interest and outstanding learning opportunities have been incorporated into the Ed and Edith Pewitt Educational Pavilion.
The late Ed Pewitt was the first and only male President of the Grapevine Garden Club from 1991-1992, and his wife Edith is also a past President of the club from 1996 to 1998. As she spoke of him at the dedication, it was clear to see how these two have worked together through the years to promote the principals of horticulture. Edith is a Tarrant County Master Gardener and so proud to be a resident of Grapevine, Texas. An educator for many years, Dr Edith Pewitt has instilled a spirit of civic and community pride in all of those around her.
The Garden Club has grown to some 150 members and is a strong presence at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens with over 30 trained Garden Docents who lead tours and educational activities for school groups, scout groups and other organizations throughout the area. They also work together with Tarrant County Master Gardeners and are on site Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. to answer gardening questions and visit with the general public about the history of the Garden.
This facility is not availble for rent.
