Circulation Policies

1. The library may be used by any resident of the City of Grapevine upon registration with the library for a three-year period.

2. Persons living outside of Grapevine will be charged an annual $25.00 non-resident fee per card upon registration with the library.

3. Each person wishing to borrow books, audio-visual materials or equipment from the library shall fill out an application, agree to comply with the policies and procedures, pay all extended use fees, make good any loss or injury to library materials, and give immediate notice of any change in address or telephone number. The library will not be responsible for any damage incurred to personal property while materials and/or equipment borrowed from the library are in use.

INFORMATION ON APPLICATION: Signature in ink; address; phone numbers; e-mail address; place of business; one D/FW area resident as an alternate contact (complete name, address, and phone number); Texas driver’s license number; and date of birth. Minors require signature of one parent and their parent’s Texas driver’s license number and date of birth.

4. On the first visit, two items may be checked out after completing the application.

5. Books (printed and audio format) may be borrowed for a period of three weeks, and the borrower has the right to renew once any book or books on cassette or cd which has not been requested by another patron.

6. DVDs, Video cassettes, and compact discs may be borrowed for three weeks, and may not be renewed.

7. An extended use fee of $.10 a day will be charged for each item not returned by the date it is due. An extended use fee of $1.00 a day will be charged for equipment not returned by the date it is due.

8. Borrowers who have abused their privilege by failing to pay extended use fees, damage to books, equipment or audio-visual materials, or the cost of the material, shall not be allowed to check out materials until their records are cleared; the denial of the library use will include all members of the family in the same residence for extended use fees over $15.00.

9. If a reader fails to return material within thirty days after the notice in writing of its delinquency, it is considered a misdemeanor offense, subject to legal action according to Ordinance No. 80-74, City of Grapevine.

10. Each person who is currently registered with the library will receive an identification card which must be presented each time material is borrowed. Borrower will be responsible for any item which is checked out on borrower's identification card. The library should be notified immediately if a card is lost. A fee of $1.00 will be charged to replace lost cards.

11. After notification, “Reserved Books” will be held for only 3 days.

12. Library hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sunday - 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Holiday closings will be posted.
