Friends of the Grapevine Library
The Friends of the Grapevine Library was chartered as a support group for the Grapevine Public Library in 1977. The Friends raise funds to purchase library furniture and equipment. They sponsor book sales including the 'Friends Gallery' located to the right of the Circulation Desk. The group also sells annual Christmas ornaments showcasing Grapevine local history.
Holiday Ornament The 23rd annual Friends of the Grapevine Public Library ornament commemorates the Cotton Belt Railroad that arrived in Grapevine in 1888. Locomotive #2248, also known as Puffy, was built in New Jersey on August 29, 1896 and was moved to Grapevine on its 100th birthday, August 29, 1996. It is owned by the City of Grapevine today. Ornaments may be purchased for $10 each at the library circulation desk. Most past years are also available.
