Originally designed by Byron Nelson and Joe Finger, the Grapevine Golf Course opened to its first players in 1979. Located just east of Lake Grapevine Dam off Fairway Drive, the course has provided golfing challenges to all levels of players since 1979. The course plays to over 6,900 yards for 18 holes from the black tees. With plenty of sand traps, tree-lined fairways, waterways and large multilevel greens, this course can provide entertainment to both the high handicapper and low handicapper alike.
The course has undergone a major expansion and modernizing renovation and now has some of the best greens and fairways in the DFW Metroplex. PGA Touring Pro D.A. Weibring's Irving based design firm, Golf Resources, Inc. has designed improvements to the old course and added nine more holes to make a total of 27 holes available at the facility.
The Bluebonnet Nine opened for play in the fall of 1999. This nine offers the golfer a set of holes with spectacular elevation changes, blind shots and fast greens. The newly renovated front nine of the old course, Mockingbird Nine re-opened for play in the spring of 2002. The renovation of the Pecan course was completed and opened for play in June of 2003. The facility now has 27 holes with modern tif-eagle greens and naturally scenic roughs and water hazards.
This course is one of the most popular courses in Tarrant County, playing more than 65,000 rounds of golf per year on the average. Green fees range from $30 per round weekdays to $35 on weekends and holidays. With 27 holes, tee times are readily available and on most days, walk ups are easily accommodated.
