Open Records Request

The Public Information Act

Texas Government Code, Chapter 552, gives citizens the right to access governmental records. Following are the City of Grapevine's procedures for obtaining public information:

  • Requests for public records are to be submitted in writing, either on the City's application form, or in a letter. Each request must be as specific as possible. It cannot be an open ended request, i.e. for all future minutes, ordinances, etc.
  • Requests for public records will be processed through the City Secretary's Office.

To request information, send your request to:
City Secretary Linda Huff
By mail to: P. O. Box 95104, Grapevine, Texas 76099
By e-mail:
Lhuff@ci.grapevine.tx.us
By fax to: 817-410-3004
In person at: 200 South Main Street, Grapevine, Texas

After a request for public records has been filed with the City Secretary:

  • the City has ten (10) working days to request an Attorney General's opinion if the records are deemed by the City Attorney not to be public and should be withheld, or
  • the City shall make the records available as soon as practical.
  • charges for copies of records are $.10 per page, $.20 per duplexed page.

There are some instances where records are in draft form, currently being used, or in storage in the Records Center. The City is to notify the requestor when the records will be available for review or copying.
