President’s 2016 Federal Budget Allocates $100 million for TEX Rail

The Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) has received notification that its commuter rail project, TEX Rail, has been allocated $100 million in the FY16 President’s Budget as a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recommended transit project.

“We are very pleased with the continued recognition by the Federal Transit Administration of the importance of this project and The T's partnership with that agency to meet the high standards required to be among U.S rail projects recommended for New Starts funding,” said The T’s President and CEO Paul Ballard.

The initial service of TEX Rail will extend from downtown Fort Worth, across northeast Tarrant County and Grapevine, and into DFW Airport at Terminal B. This 27-mile regional rail corridor is projected to have more than 10,000 daily riders at initial start of service in 2018 using eight stations. By 2035, there will be 10 stations and more than 15,500 daily riders. Read on...
